Share the Genie’s Power
As Jim Sterne (Emetrics.org) says, Web analytics allows an opportunity unprecedented in the history of marketing. It lets you see into the hearts and minds of your Web site visitors, be they customers, citizens or shareholders. Does this bring a crystal ball or genie to mind? Well, choose the metaphor that works for you.
The genie works for me … even more so after the Web Analytics Association (WAA) meeting last week at Emetrics. WAA Board Member Andrea Hadley commented that we as an industry need to make Web analytics less of a mystery. Knowledge is somewhat capped, as in a bottle. “Take the bottle cap off”, she said, to let Web analytics knowledge spread. She observed that until search engine optimizers came out of their basements and shared what they were doing, lots of confusion buzzed about ‘black magic’ and ‘white magic’ SEO techniques. Since Andrea’s company NetSetGo Marketing provides both search engine marketing and Web analytics services, she’s in a perfect position to see the parallels.
Web analytics is a very powerful genie. One that’s continuing to grow, evolve and morph in capability.
Let’s use this genie's power widely but wisely.
Let’s share our knowledge.
Share the Genie’s Power.
